Foreign Rescue
Getting a rescue from overseas can be a wonderfully rewarding experience. However, it is important to be prepared for the fact they may come with their own unique set of challenges.
Many of the rescues we work with have experienced hardship and/or trauma before they arrived, but in addition to that, most are of mixed descent, so their breed characteristics may be a little unusual. Getting a puppy won't necessarily mean you are working with a blank canvas either, as they have already matured through their critical socialisation period before they are even old enough to travel.
That is not to say they all come with behavioural issues, far from it! i have 2 very different personalities at home. However, knowledge is power and I am here to set you up with the foundation to a succesful integration.
Being aware of the differences, the potential challenges, the early management and how to help them learn about their new world is paramount to a succesful pairing.
I have a particularly special interest in foreign rescues and have both first hand experience, as well as studying and learning about them as a separate subject. This enables me to give you specialist support*.
*Please note, you may be referred onto a behaviourist following on from any sessions we share.
